Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT, Tapping)
Current neuroscience confirms that 95% of decisions are emotional, not left brain logical. The conscious logical mind can only process 3-4 pieces of new information at a time. Decisions are made by using our subconscious mind, which is filled with a lifetime of experiences, memories, emotions, beliefs, successes, and traumas.
Because of this, it’s no surprise that we get stuck in old stories, negative emotional memories, and repeating patterns of behavior. Since decisions are emotional, the ability to shift your perspective or see a situation in a new light using logic can often be limited.
To promote more permanent change, an integrative brain and body approach that incorporates the subconscious mind, such as EFT (also known informally as “tapping”), can be very effective. In fact, the VA has recently approved EFT as an effective, evidence-based treatment for veterans with PTSD!
Sometimes referred to as “acupuncture without needles”, EFT involves gently tapping on acupressure points while recalling negative beliefs or traumatic memories. It is gentle, safe and often results in rapid resolution of trauma and anxiety symptoms.
I have advanced training in this technique, and while many others that offer EFT are not licensed therapists, I highly recommend seeking the services of a licensed professional, such as myself, to guide you through this life changing experience.
